Vaginal dryness is one of the most common intimate concerns women experience at some point in life.
Research suggests that more than 50% of menopausal women experience vaginal dryness — and that at least 17% of premenopausal women aged 18–50 experience it too.
And honestly? Those numbers are likely higher. Because dryness is still one of those symptoms many women keep to themselves — or don’t even realise their symptoms are connected to intimate dryness.
The Real Problem: Stigma
Despite how common vaginal dryness is, fewer than 4% seek treatment.
Not because it isn’t affecting quality of life — but because the topic still carries shame.
When we don’t talk about something, it becomes invisible.
And when it’s invisible, women assume they’re alone.
We’re here to change that.
Lip Intimate Care exists to normalise intimate health, raise awareness, and give women better tools to care for their vulva — with confidence and without embarrassment.
How Can Lip Intimate Care Support Vaginal Dryness?
One of the most effective first steps is also one of the most overlooked:
Look at what you’re cleansing with.
Because many intimate products on the market are still built like body wash — and the vulva is not “body skin.”
“If It Lathers, Keep It Away From Your Vulva.”
Gynecologist Dr. Rebecka Kaplan is clear on this:
Soap-based cleansers and foaming products can strip the vulva and mucosa of their natural lipids and moisture — making dryness worse. They can also irritate sensitive tissue and trigger allergic reactions.
Foaming agents, in particular, can be harsh on mucous membranes. In Dr. Kaplan’s words:
If it lathers, keep it away from your vulva.
Because when the barrier is weakened, the vulva becomes more vulnerable — not just to dryness, but also to fissures, irritation and imbalance.
Why We Don’t Use Foaming Agents
Unlike most intimate washes, Lip products are formulated without foaming agents or aggressive cleansing chemicals.
Instead, we use a base of natural and organic oils that cleanse gently while supporting the skin barrier — without disturbing pH or the microbiome.
This matters because dryness isn’t only about moisture.
It’s also about barrier function.
Why Oil Cleansing Makes Sense (Especially for Dryness)
Dr. Kaplan explains that cleansing with vegetable oils helps the skin and mucosa maintain their natural moisture and protective function.
She recommends using oil as a gentle cleanser in the shower — or applying it after contact with water to help restore barrier function.
And if the vulva is very dry or sensitive, she suggests applying the oil before showering, to help protect the mucosa from water exposure.
